More COVID Money Going to Non-Profits; Some for EVSC Outdoor Seating

File

The latest round of local COVID crisis response money will include funding for outdoor seating at EVSC schools.

The COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund of the Greater Evansville Region has awarded a fourteenth round of allocations, granting nearly $400,000 to all 15 nonprofits that applied for it.

In a release, the Welborn Baptist Foundation said the latest round includes $30,000 to the Public Education Foundation’s house project. But instead of purchasing lumber for a house, the money will be used to build 85 tables and chairs for flexible outdoor seating at 15 EVSC schools.

The foundation says the latest allocations will also help provide COVID antibody testing for donated blood, zoo memberships for low-income households, food for at-risk children, staffing needs, programs to support social-emotional learning for kids, clinic supplies, and security and safety equipment.

The Response Fund has distributed more than $3.3 million to nonprofits in a five-county region.

Donations to the fund can be made by debit card, credit card, or PayPal at covidresponsefund.com.

Checks are also accepted at Old National Bank and Heritage Federal Credit Union.
