More COVID Deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Daviess Counties; Infections Soar

The COVID surge continues in the Evansville area, with fatalities reported in Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Daviess counties.

Warrick County Coroner Sarah Seaton tells WNIN three more county residents have died of COVID-19.

One was an 82-year-old woman from hard-hit Woodmont Health in Boonville. The second was an 81-year-old man from anther hard-hit nursing facility, Signature Health Care in Newburgh. And the third victim was an 80-year-old man from Newburgh Health Care.

The Indiana State Department of Health reported one new death in Vanderburgh County, raising the county’s death toll rose to 32.

Vanderburgh saw 78 new infections in the Monday report, after a record 101 new cases were recorded on Saturday, and 68 more on Sunday.

No new COVID-related deaths were recorded in Posey or Gibson counties.

The state agency reported 135 COVID patients hospitalized in southwest Indiana, with about 27 percent of the area’s Intensive Care beds still available.

Statewide, seven new fatalities were recorded along with more than 800 new infections.

Grim news from western Kentucky, where the Green River District Health Department reported three new deaths, all in Daviess County.

76 new infections were reported in the seven-county district, and 37 COVID patients were in the hospital.
