McKesson expanding billing service, creating 100+ jobs

John Gibson

A major health care company is expanding in Downtown Evansville.

McKesson Specialty Health says it’s expanding its services inside the Walker Building on the former Welborn Hospital campus – near the site of the new IU School of Medicine.

The company says the office will eventually employ more than 100 people.

The business will focus on billing and collecting for medical service providers U.S. Oncology Network and Vantage Oncology.

McKesson spokesman Rob Zigenfus told reporters the company wants to be a good neighbor, and looks forward to working with local universities and the workforce.

Zigenfus declined to say how much the jobs will pay or how soon the employment level might reach 100.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke noted that McKesson is No. 5 on the Fortune 500. He called it a "great day" for the city of Evansville.

Winnecke says the city council will not be asked to approve any financial incentives for the company.
