While he did not order any new restrictions, the mayor did say some events have a greater potential to spread the virus.

Monday afternoon, Mayor Winnecke released a message on Facebooksaying two groups seem to be where the greatest recent spread of the virus is coming from- employees of long term care facilities and large gatherings at which people are not social distancing or wearing masks.

In particular, the mayor called out youth sporting events in the city, where he says it’s obvious attendees are neither social distancing nor wearing masks.

The mayor said, “I get it. I’m suffering from COVID fatigue just like everyone else.  But this is our new reality until COVID-19 is defeated.”

Mayor Winnecke said local hospitals are nearing capacity with COVID patients and the arrival of flu season will put even more pressure on those facilities.
