The death of a man in Evansville has been ruled NOT related to COVID-19.
Emergency crews were called to the Sarto Retreat House on N. Kentucky Ave. Thursday afternoon for a man who said he was having a heart attack.
The man fell and hit his head, and wasn’t breathing when first responders arrived.
Attempts to revive the man were not successful and the coroner’s office was contacted.
In an email, Coroner Steve Lockyear said the initial concern was the man had died of COVID 19.
But Lockyear said a test for the coronavirus came back negative.
The man’s identity was not released.
The death occurred just one day after the city of Evansville and the Catholic Diocese opened Sarto as a self-isolating facility for homeless people.
