Ivy Tech Plans October Commencement

Ivy Tech graduates will have a chance to don caps and gowns this fall.

The community college has announced that its commencement ceremony originally planned for last week has been postponed until Friday, October 16, at the Ford Center.

In a release, Ivy Tech said the ceremony will celebrate the graduation of about 1,400 students from the Fall 2019, Spring 2020, and Summer 2020 classes.

Chancellor Daniela Vidal said the school is “extremely proud” of students who are finishing, despite all the challenges they’ve faced with the COVID 19 pandemic.

Vidal said “We considered a virtual ceremony, and other options, but felt our students deserved to have an in-person ceremony if at all possible.”

Ivy Tech said the October ceremony is contingent on social distancing requirements from the State of Indiana.
