IURC Hosting Hearing on CenterPoint Rate Hike

IURC

A public hearing on CenterPoint Energy’s proposed natural gas rate increase is set for Wednesday evening.

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will conduct the hearing at Old National Events Plaza beginning at 6 p.m.

The rate hike would pay for a new electric generating station in Posey County; two natural gas-fired combustion turbines; and new ponds to store wastewater and coal-pile runoff.

The total cost is $354 million.

CenterPoint is seeking approval to raise average customers’ bills by about $23 a month.

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor is also seeking written comments from customers.
