High Speed I-69 Chase Ends in Crash, Arrests

File

Two men are in custody after a high-speed chase on I-69.

Indiana State Police say a trooper clocked a northbound Jaguar traveling at 116 miles an hour in Pike County Tuesday night.

In a release, the ISP says the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren and tried to stop the car, but the driver continued to travel north at a high rate of speed.

Police said the vehicle continued north into Daviess (DAY-veez) County reaching speeds of more than 150 miles an hour before exiting the interstate at U.S. 150 at Washington.

The ISP said the driver lost control as he tried to turn onto 150 and crashed into a concrete wall.

Two men got out of the car and began to run.

After a brief foot chase, the trooper apprehended the driver, who was identified as 24-year-old Benjamin Harrison of Miami, Florida.

Police set up a perimeter and found the passenger, identified as 23-year-old Jason Joseph of Washington, lying in a nearby field.

Harrison and Joseph were transported to the Daviess County Jail.

Harrison faces preliminary charges of resisting law and enforcement and reckless driving.

Joseph faces a charge of resisting law enforcement.
