Heavy Rain, Possible Twisters Hit Tri-State

File Photo

The National Weather Service is conducting damage surveys following Thursday's severe storms.

Crews are surveying damage in Gibson and Pike Counties to determine whether tornadoes were the cause of damage in the Oakland City area.

State Police Sgt. Todd Ringle tweeted that trees were down, some roofs were damaged, and power lines were down in the town.

He reported no major damage.

The Vincennes area was also hit hard by flash flooding and a possible twister.

Survey crews are checking damage in parts of southern Illinois and southeast Missouri as well.

The severe storms were followed by much colder air, with single-digit wind chills in the Evansville area Friday morning.

Temperatures reached the mid-60’s Thursday.
