Four more COVID-related deaths have been reported in southwest Indiana.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced one new death in Vanderburgh County, along with one each in Warrick, Posey, and Gibson counties.
The surge of new infections also continued, with 64 in Vanderburgh, 21 in Warrick, 17 in Posey, and 15 in Gibson.
Because of the rise in new cases, the state has raised Vanderburgh and Warrick counties from “yellow” to the “orange” category, meaning 100-to-199 new infections in a week.
Statewide, the department announced 20 new fatalities and 965 new infections in its Wednesday report.
The Green River District Health Department recorded 67 new infections in its seven-county region, 26 of them in Henderson County and 25 in Daviess County.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients rose to 40.
