EVSC Warns of Possible Closings if Coronavirus Spreads

The head of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation says the district is “considering all possible scenarios” to protect students from COVID-19.

In a letter to parents and guardians, Superintendent David Smith urged families to be prepared for possible school closings and virtual learning.

Smith said he has “complete confidence” in local health and medical experts to make recommendations regarding the health of children and adults.

Unlike winter weather-related closures, school districts in other states that have closed for the coronavirus have shut down for one to two weeks.

Smith said the EVSC will continue to share updated information through emails, texts, Facebook, and Twitter.

He also said the EVSC has created a new space on its website with information on COVID-19
