EPD: Keep Kids Safe At Fall Festival

The Evansville Police Department is offering safety tips for kids at the Nut Club Fall Festival.

Before you arrive at the event, EPD Sgt. Jason Cullum suggests parents talk to children about the large crowd, and let them know they can safely approach police officers or Nut Club officials if they become separated.

Sgt. Cullum also recommends taking a picture of your child on your cell phone, so it can be shown to officers if the child goes missing.

Cullum says kids and even adults are easily distracted with all its sights, sounds, and smells of the festival on W. Franklin St.

He says it’s always best for parents of younger children to hold the child’s hand when walking in or around the fest.

For children who are older, you should have a pre-determined meeting spot if you or anyone else in your group becomes separated.

Cullum also recommends parents not allow any child younger than high school age to walk around the games and rides area Friday or Saturday nights without adult supervision.

The midway becomes very congested.
