Drug Take Back Planned for Saturday

File

This Saturday is a “Drug Take Back” day in Evansville.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says it will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration to host the event at the National Guard Armory near the Lloyd Expressway and Vann Avenue.

In a release, the sheriff’s office said the public can drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office and the DEA will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs.

They say liquids, syringes, and illegal drugs will not be accepted.

Authorities say the collection site will adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the U.S. has seen an increase in overdose deaths during the pandemic.
