Driver Dies After Misjudging Traffic in Work Zone

ISP

Indiana State Police have released details about the work zone crash on I-64 in Warrick County Friday that killed one person.

According to a release, 52 year old Leah McMillen of Louisville was killed after she tried to get past a truck in the eastbound lanes just before reaching the blocked left lane of I-64 in a work zone in Warrick County near mile marker 47.

McMillen misjudged her maneuvering room and hit a box truck in the right lane as she tried to swerve in front of it to avoid hitting the orange barrels. She lost control of her 2021 Nissan Rogue which went off the south side of the road, hit a tree and overturned in about a foot of water.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured.
