COVID Surge Rages On: 8 More Deaths in SW Indiana and W Kentucky

Eight more COVID-19 related deaths and hundreds more infections have been announced in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky. 

The Indiana Department of Health recorded two more deaths in Vanderburgh County, one in Warrick County, and one in Dubois County.

Another 200 infections were logged in Vanderburgh, raising the local pandemic total above 28,000.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals topped 25 percent, while more than 200 local residents became fully vaccinated.

82 new infections were added in Warrick County, 55 in Gibson County, and 21 in Posey County.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose to 292.

Across the state, 20 more COVID-related deaths were announced, along with more than 5,000 new cases.

In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department recorded two new fatalities in Webster County, one in Henderson County, and one in Daviess County.

More the 450 new infections were added from Tuesday through Thursday in the seven-county district.
