COVID Deaths Climb in SW Indiana

The COVID-19 death toll continues to climb in southwest Indiana. 

The Indiana State Department of Health announced two new COVID-related deaths in Gibson County, one in Warrick County, and one in Dubois County.

The Monday report showed no new deaths in Vanderburgh County with a lower number of new infections: 53.

The county topped 100 new infections each day over the weekend, and the county’s death toll reached 50.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in southwest Indiana rose to 161.

Statewide, the agency recorded 23 new fatalities and nearly 1,600 new infections.

In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department announced 68 new infections in its Monday report, with 36 people in the hospital.

The department reported no new deaths in the seven-county district, but noted the agency recorded 17 fatalities last week.
