Apartment Fire Displaces 3 Adults, 3 Kids

File

The American Red Cross is helping six residents of an Evansville apartment building after a late night fire.

Firefighters were called to 1243 Lincoln Park Dr. in the Heritage Apartments at about 11:00 Sunday night, when a resident heard a smoke alarm and saw smoke coming from a window.

In a release, EFD Division Chief Mike Larson said firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze that originated in a bedroom.

Larson said most of the damage was contained to the room and its contents.

No one was injured but the Red Cross was contacted to help three adults and three children who were displaced.

Larson said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The chief noted it was the second structure fire in three days in which a smoke detector helped people discover the fire, save property, and potentially save lives.
