Alcoa Announces Reorganizing

Alcoa has announced a restructuring plan.

The company -- with an aluminum plant in Warrick County -- says it will implement a new operating model that includes eliminating its business unit structure and consolidating sales, procurement and other commercial capabilities at an enterprise level.

Under the new operating model, the Alcoa Executive Team will be streamlined from 12 to seven, who will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

In a news release, Alcoa CEO Roy Harvey says the new structure will promote stronger connectivity between the company’s plants and executive leadership, and “swift decision-making.”

Two Alcoa Executive Vice Presidents will be cut as part of the new operating model.

The company says additional organizational changes to reduce overhead are in the works.

It’s not clear what impact the plans will have on the Warrick Operations.
