The COVID surge has claimed nine more lives in southwest Indiana.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced three new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh County, three more in Gibson County, two more in Posey County, and one in Warrick County.
New infections continued to climb, with 102 in Vanderburgh County on the Thursday dashboard.
The number of COVID patients hospitalized in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana stood at 232, with the percentage of available intensive care beds at less than 17 percent.
Statewide numbers were also grim, with 51 new fatalities and a single-day record of more than 6,600 new cases.
Indiana’s seven-day positivity rate rose to 10.5 percent.
The numbers came one day after Governor Holcomb re-imposed some restrictions for almost all Indiana counties, starting this weekend.
In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department reported 110 new infections but no new deaths.
The number of COVID patients in the hospital rose to 38 in the seven-county district.
More: 33 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Warrick County, 32 in Gibson County, and 18 in Posey County.
