5 New COVID Deaths, 766 Infections in Western KY; Vanderburgh Vaccinations Outnumber Infections

Five more COVID 19-related deaths and hundreds of new infections are reported in western Kentucky. 

The Green River District Health Department announced one fatality in Henderson County, one in Union County, one in Daviess County, one in Webster County, and another in Ohio County.

The department also counted 766 new infections in the seven-county district from Tuesday through Thursday.

32 COVID patients were in the hospital.

In a release, District Public Health Director Clay Horton said if you are not vaccinated against COVID-19, “get vaccinated immediately!”

Meantime, new vaccinations in Vanderburgh County outnumbered new infections on the Friday dashboard.

The Indiana Department of Health recorded 257 more full vaccinations while new infections climbed by 158.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate stood at 28 percent.

Warrick County added 55 infections, Gibson County saw 42 new cases, and Posey County added 15.

No new COVID-related deaths were tallied in southwest Indiana.

COVID hospitalizations jumped by 42 to 233 in the 12-county region.

Across Indiana, officials recorded 14 new fatalities and more than 4,100 new infections.
