2 More COVID Deaths in Area; Vanderburgh Vaccinations Top 89,000

Two more COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in the Evansville area. 

The Indiana Department of Health announced one new fatality in Vanderburgh County and another in Warrick County on the Thursday dashboard.

Vanderburgh’s pandemic death toll rose to 437 while Warrick’s reached 175.

The agency also added 130 new infections in Vanderburgh, 49 in Warrick, 21 in Gibson, and 16 in Posey County.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals improved a bit to about 24 percent. And more than 300 local residents became fully vaccinated, raising that total above 89,000.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose slightly to 260.

Statewide, the agency added 31 new virus-related deaths and more than 4,100 new cases.
