COVID Deaths, Infections, Hospitalizations Rise in Southwest IN

Two new COVID 19-related deaths and hundreds of new infections are reported in southwest Indiana. 

The Indiana Department of Health added one new fatality in Vanderburgh County and one in Dubois County on the Friday dashboard.

The agency also tallied 163 new infections in Vanderburgh, 58 in Warrick, 29 in Gibson, and 25 in Posey County.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose by 12 to 145, with less than 20 percent of intensive care beds available.

Across Indiana, 57 more COVID-related deaths were added, along with more than 5,600 new infections.

The state’s pandemic death toll has topped 17,000 with nearly 600 more deaths considered “probable” COVID fatalities.
