A Western Kentucky hospital is notifying people registered to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine that they won’t be receiving the shot after all – at least for now.
According to a social media post from Deaconess Henderson Hospital, COVID-19 vaccine doses that were headed to Henderson and Union counties have been “halted” for the coming weeks.
The statement says those who had signed up to receive their first dose are being notified of cancellations and they will be given notice when the vaccine is available again.
No specific reason was given as to why the area won’t be receiving the expected vaccines but Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said last Thursday that there had been a miscommunication with federal officials about how many doses were coming to the state this week.
Deaconess officials state that appointments for second doses of the vaccine are not canceled.
