COVID-19 has claimed eight more lives in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced one new fatality in Vanderburgh County, another in Warrick, one in Gibson, and another in Dubois County.
The agency reported another triple-digit increase in new infections in Vanderburgh County, boosting the total 8,761 cases since mid-March.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients in southwest Indiana stood at 260, with about 22.5 percent of intensive care beds available in the 12-county region.
Statewide, 59 new deaths were recorded along with more than 7,400 new infections on the Thursday dashboard.
The Green River District Health Department reported two new fatalities, one in Daviess County and the other in Hancock County. The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the seven-county region jumped to 60.
And the Hopkins County Health Department announced two more COVID-related deaths, raising that county’s toll to 46.
