Vectren says it will suspend electric and gas disconnections during the Coronavirus emergency.

Vectren’s owner, CenterPoint Energy, said in a news release it has temporarily suspended natural gas and electric service disconnections for customers behind on payments.

The Texas-based company said it will also support customers who may need payment assistance, arrangements, or extensions during the crisis.

CenterPoint also said it has implemented measures to protect the safety and health of its customers, employees and contractors, providing hand sanitizer, latex gloves, and shoe covers – in addition to standard protective equipment.

The company also said field employees will attempt to resolve service issues without entering homes or businesses;

Workers will also follow social distancing guidelines. They’re also expected to increase cleaning and disinfecting of facilities and vehicles.
