The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) Board of Trustees voted unanimously Monday evening to purchase the lot at 1318 E. Powell St. next to Bosse High School for $96,500.

Board President Andrew Guarino said that the tennis court expansion is part of renovations to Bosse’s sports facilities. Other improvements include installing lights for the courts, repaving the track, and repairing the roof over the home-side bleachers.

“That will be an entrance. It’ll have a gate with it. It will attach on to that brick wall that surrounds Bosse that’s so beautiful,” Guarino said. “It will be an open area a little bit like Harrison High School. It has a little plaza to it, and it’ll be a real beautiful entrance.”

Guarino said the EVSC will purchase the lot in the very near future, and the improvements will be completed over the next two years.
