Five more COVID-19 related deaths and more than 500 new infections have been recorded in western Kentucky.
The Green River District Health Department announced four new fatalities in Daviess County and one in Ohio County.
The Daviess County death toll reached 285.
The department also tallied 521 more cases in the seven-county district between Tuesday and Thursday.
All seven counties are now listed as “areas of high transmission” and the district’s average of new infections rose above 100 a day.
The district’s public health director, Clay Horton, continues to urge Kentuckians to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and for eligible residents to get a booster shot.
