Day of the Dead to be Celebrated on W. Franklin St.

Facebook

A Day of the Dead celebration is planned this weekend in Evansville.

Evansville Day of the Dead organizers are inviting the public to participate in the Latin American holiday that celebrates loved ones who have died.

This Saturday at Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library's west branch, organizers will set up crafts, decorations and music.

At the event, community members can learn about Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos and the significance of the holiday's remembrance displays (or offrendas), sugar skulls, colorful flowers, and even an art parade.

The Evansville Day of the Dead group has had help preparing parade floats from Montessori Academy of Evansville.

The celebration begins at 2pm. For more information, find Evansville Day of the Dead on Facebook.
