The Tri-State’s first sub-freezing temperatures of the season are expected Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for late Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
A Freeze Watch remains in effect for late Wednesday and early Thursday.
Forecasters say temperatures as low as 28 are possible in the region.
The weather service says the conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Forecasters urge residents to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
They also say outdoor water pipes should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
In-ground sprinkler systems should be drained.
And you’re urged to cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
