Officials are promising a “series of milestones” for the I-69 bridge project before the end of the year.
Officials say the milestones will lead to ground being broken early next year on Section 1 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing.
Section 1 will improve Highway 41 to interstate standards between Kentucky 425 and U.S. 60 in Henderson.
In a release, officials say they’re seeking technical and price proposals from three short-listed companies.
The proposals will be due to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet November 15.
The apparent “Best Value” design-build team is expected to be announced December 15, with a contract to be awarded by the end of the year.
Construction of Segment 1 is expected to begin early next year and continue through 2025.
The long term plan calls for construction of a new, four-lane bridge over the Ohio River connecting Evansville and Henderson.
Completion is expected in 2031.
