Six More COVID Deaths in Western KY; None in SW Indiana

Six more COVID-19 related deaths have been tallied in western Kentucky, while none have been added in southwest Indiana. 

The Green River District Health Department says five of the six new fatalities were in Daviess County, where the pandemic death toll reached 261.

The other COVID-related death was in Ohio County.

More than 200 new infections were counted in the seven-county district between Tuesday and Thursday.

The seven-day average for new infections fell to about 67 a day.

Meantime, the Indiana Department of Health added no new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Pike, Dubois, or Spencer counties.

42 new infections were tallied in Vanderburgh County, where the seven-day positivity rate among individuals fell to about 18.5 percent.

More than 100 local residents became fully vaccinated and more than 400 received booster shots.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana held at 106.

Across Indiana, 22 more COVID-related deaths were counted with nearly 1,900 new infections on the Friday dashboard.
