COVID Numbers Improving in Southwest Indiana

File

COVID-19 deaths, infections, and hospitalizations continue to fall in southwest Indiana.

The state’s health department recorded no new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties.

But the agency did add one fatality in Dubois County on the Tuesday dashboard.

Infections rose by just 33 in Vanderburgh and 12 in Warrick.

It’s not clear if the Monday holiday affected the totals.

Meantime, the number of fully vaccinated residents in Vanderburgh rose by more than 100 to top 93,000 since the vaccines became available.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals rose a bit to 21.5 percent.

In a more encouraging statistic: the number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell to 150 – about half what it was in early September.

Across Indiana, 44 more COVID-related deaths were recorded with more than 1,600 new cases.
