New COVID Deaths in Gibson, Spencer Counties; Hospitalizations Up

New COVID-19 related deaths are reported in Gibson and Spencer counties. 

The Indiana Department of Health announced Gibson’s 110th fatality and Spencer’s 39th death of the pandemic on the Thursday dashboard.

No new deaths were added in Vanderburgh County, but the agency recorded 81 more infections and 143 new full vaccinations.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals held steady at about 21 percent.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose by 20 to 183, with less than a third of intensive care beds available.

Statewide, the agency announced 29 more COVID-related deaths and more than 2,300 new infections.

More than 5,400 Hoosiers joined the ranks of fully vaccinated.
