8 More COVID Deaths Announced in Southwest Indiana

The COVID-19 death toll continues to climb in southwest Indiana. 

Indiana’s health department announced two more COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh County, two in Warrick County, two in Gibson County, one in Posey County, and one in Pike County.

Vanderburgh’s death toll reached 467, the county also added 64 infections, and the local seven-day positivity rate rose to nearly 21 percent.

In a more encouraging number, COVID hospitalizations across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell to 167. That’s about 100 fewer hospitalizations than in early September.

Across Indiana, the agency recorded 72 more COVID-related deaths and nearly 2,800 more infections.

Indiana’s seven-day positivity rate slipped below 18 percent.
