A date is set for a public hearing on CenterPoint Energy’s proposed natural gas rate increase.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will hold the hearing next Wednesday at Old National Events Plaza.
It will begin at 6 p.m.
The rate hike would pay for a new electric generating station in Posey County; two natural gas-fired combustion turbines; and new ponds to store wastewater and coal-pile runoff.
The total cost is $354 million.
CenterPoint is seeking approval to raise average customers’ bills by about $23 a month.
The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor is also seeking written comments from customers.
