Standoff After Shooting Ends Peacefully

File

Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in ending a standoff in Evansville Saturday following a shooting in western Vanderburgh County.

According to a release from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when a victim told deputies he had been shot in the foot while at a residence in the area of Upper Mt. Vernon Road on Saturday.

Deputies say their investigation led them to a house on Halsey Avenue in Evansville. The suspect, 41 year old Cassidy Michael Fenwick of Henderson, refused to come out. Four children in the home were evacuated without injury. Fenwick finally surrendered after a three hour standoff.

Fenwick was arrested on several felony charges, including Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Pointing a Loaded Firearm and Criminal Recklessness with a deadly weapon. As of Sunday evening, he was being held without bond in the Vanderburgh County Jail pending a court hearing.
