200+ New COVID Infections in Vanderburgh; More New Cases Than Vaccinations

Hundreds of new COVID-19 infections are reported in southwest Indiana. 

The Indiana Department of Health added 228 new cases in Vanderburgh County, outnumbering new vaccinations by 44.

82 new infections were counted in Warrick County, 49 in Gibson County, and 29 in Posey County.

One positive note: no new COVID-related deaths were announced in the Evansville area on the Thursday dashboard.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals dropped a bit to about 25 percent.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose to 289.

Across the state, the agency recorded 23 new COVID-related deaths and more than 5,200 new infections, as the delta variant continued its relentless spread.

Indiana seven-day positivity rate was just below 19 percent.
