New COVID Deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick; Infections Still Surging

Two more COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in the Evansville area.

The Indiana Department of Health added one fatality in Vanderburgh County and another in Warrick County on the Wednesday dashboard.

Vanderburgh’s pandemic death toll climbed to 420, while Warrick’s reached 102.

Infections continued to surge, with 167 new cases in Vanderburgh, 84 in Warrick, 77 in Gibson, and 30 in Posey County.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals dipped just below 26 percent, while the number of fully vaccinated local residents rose by more than 200.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose to 276.

Across the state, 29 more COVID-related deaths were added along with 4,800 new cases as the delta variant continued to spread.
