COVID Surge is Cancelling, Changing Area Events

File

Concerns over the COVID-19 surge are forcing the cancellation and modification of local events.

Among the cancelled events are the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana’s 2021 Arts Awards.

The council said this year's award recipients will still be celebrated “in a special way.”

There’s no word yet on what that may be.

For the second straight year, the Women’s Equality Centennial Celebration in Evansville was canceled due to the pandemic.

The event was scheduled for Thursday but officials say it will be rescheduled for 2022.

In a release, the group Women Stepping Up said tickets won’t be refunded but will be honored for next year’s luncheon.

And the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum has announced that people attending the ROMP festival in September will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within the previous 72 hours.
