COVID Surge Continues: 3 New Deaths, Hundreds More Infections in Area

Three more COVID 19-related deaths are reported in the Evansville area, along with hundreds of new infections. 

The Indiana Department of Health announced two new virus-related deaths in Warrick County and one in Vanderburgh County on the Wednesday dashboard.

Vanderburgh’s pandemic death toll climbed to 413, while Warrick’s reached 161.

The agency also recorded 232 more infections in Vanderburgh County, 69 in Warrick County, 40 in Gibson County, and 32 new cases in Posey County.

Seven-day positivity rates remained high.

On a more positive note, 268 more Vanderburgh County residents became fully vaccinated, lifting the local total above 85,000.

COVID hospitalizations fell a bit to 246 in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana.

Statewide, 19 more COVID-related deaths were recorded along with more than 5,000 new infections, as the delta variant continued to fuel the surge.
