COVID Infections Soar by 250 in Vanderburgh County

COVID-19 infections have jumped by more than 250 in Vanderburgh County. 

In a number reminiscent of the early days of the pandemic, the Indiana Department of Health recorded 253 new cases in Vanderburgh County on the Thursday dashboard.

Surrounding counties reported double-digit increases.

No new COVID-related deaths were reported in the Evansville area.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals topped 27 percent.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana dipped below 200.

Across Indiana, 15 more COVID-related deaths were counted with more than 3,700 new infections.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients statewide climbed to 1,654.

No new vaccination data was available as of midday Thursday.
