COVID-19 is blamed for deaths in Vanderburgh and Henderson counties as the delta variant continues to spread.
The Indiana Department of Health recorded Vanderburgh County’s 408th fatality of the pandemic, along with 106 new infections.
Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals stood at about 24 percent.
The Friday dashboard also tallied 41 new infections in Warrick County, 26 in Gibson County, nine in Posey County, 16 each in Pike and Dubois counties, and 21 in Spencer County.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose to 170.
Across the state, the agency recorded a dozen more COVID-related deaths and more than 2,700 new cases.
In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department recorded Henderson County’s 84th death of the pandemic, while infections continued to surge.
The agency announced more than 600 new cases in the seven-county district from Tuesday through Thursday.
