At the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, you’ll be able to see an exhibition of artworks in various mediums created by people who have experienced homelessness.

Artistry Unhoused is the brainchild of Aurora Marketing, Communications and Special Events Coordinator Nate Jochum. He says he wanted to build a wider understanding of people who are often overlooked or misunderstood.

Jochum says visiting the exhibit of paintings, photography, jewelry and music reveals the humanity of the artists.

“You can feel the anguish in it. You can feel the torment in it. You can feel the, sometimes the helplessness in it. But you can also feel the optimism in it as well.”

The exhibit will run August 10-28 at the Arts Councilgallery on Main Street. There will be a closing reception for the artists and awards presentations on the 28th.
