COVID-19 infections are surging in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky, as the delta variant spreads.
The Indiana Department of Health tallied 163 new infections in Vanderburgh County, the biggest one-day jump since January.
Warrick County saw 56 new cases, Gibson County tallied 30, and Posey County added 23.
All four counties recorded seven-day positivity rates of more than 20 percent, with Gibson County topping 32 percent on the Friday dashboard.
No new COVID-related deaths were announced in southwest Indiana, and the number of COVID patients in the hospital fell by seven to 67.
Across Indiana, a half dozen more fatalities were recorded with more than 1,400 new infections.
The Green River District Health Department announced more than 300 new infections, but the agency said about half of them were part of a 2020 Data Reconciliation.
The department reported one new COVID-related death in Webster County, with 23 COVID patients hospitalized in the seven-county district.
