File

For a second straight day, more than 50 new COVID-19 infections have been counted in Vanderburgh County.

The Indiana Department of Health added 51 new cases in the county, along with an increase in the seven-day positivity rate among individuals to 14.5 percent.

The agency recorded 15 new infections in Warrick County.

Single-digit increases were tallied for Gibson and Posey counties on the Thursday dashboard, but Gibson’s positivity rate topped 33 percent.

No new COVID-related deaths were added in the Evansville area.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose by two to 54.

Across the state, the agency recorded just one new COVID fatality but more than 800 new infections.

Indiana’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals rose above nine percent.

Health officials are urging unvaccinated residents to get the shots and slow the spread of the virus’s delta variant.
