COVID-19 infections have surged in the Evansville area.
The Indiana Department of Health recorded 59 new COVID cases in Vanderburgh County – the highest jump in several weeks.
The state agency also counted 22 new infections in Warrick County, 19 in Gibson County, and five in Posey County on the Wednesday dashboard.
Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals also moved in the wrong direction, rising to almost 9.5 percent.
Full vaccinations in the county did rise above 82,000 as another 154 residents rolled up their sleeves.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients rose to 52 in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana.
Across the state, seven more COVID-related deaths were tallied, along with more than 700 new infections, as the virus’s delta variant continues to spread.
