COVID Cases Rising as Delta Variant Spreads

COVID-19 infections continue to rise in the Evansville area. 

The Indiana Department of Health recorded 22 more infections in Vanderburgh County.

Surrounding counties in southwest Indiana saw single-digit increases on the Tuesday dashboard.

No new COVID-related deaths were added in the Evansville area.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate improved slightly to 8.1 percent -- still well below the state average of 5.4 percent.

COVID hospitalizations rose to 48 in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana.

Across the state, five new COVID-related deaths were recorded along with more than 700 new infections.

In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department reported a three-day jump of 142 infections.

The agency added no new COVID-related deaths in the seven-county district, but hospitalizations were up to six.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is urging unvaccinated residents to wear a mask in public to slow the spread of the virus’ delta variant.
