Braun Aligns with Paul, Cruz, to Oppose Democratic Infrastructure Package

Indiana Public Media

Indiana’s junior senator is among a group of conservative Republicans who say they’re strongly opposed to the Democratic infrastructure plan.

U.S. Sen. Mike Braun of Jasper says the $3.5 trillion package is a “100% partisan blowout spending package” that mortgages “our children’s and grandchildren’s futures.”

In a release, Braun said everyone agrees America needs to invest in infrastructure. But he said our national debt is growing out of control.

Braun said the nation can pay for needed infrastructure without incurring additional debt by “repurposing previously appropriated but unspent funds.”

Braun issued the statement along with fellow Republicans that include Rand Paul of Kentucky, Ted Cruz of Texas, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Rick Scott of Florida, and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.
