Vanderburgh COVID Infections, Positivity Rate Up; Vaccinations Approach 81,000

File

COVID-19 vaccinations are on the rise in Vanderburgh County, but so are new infections.

The Indiana Department of Health added 19 infections in the county along with a seven-day positivity rate of 13.3 percent among individuals.

New infections had been in single digits in recent weeks with a lower positivity rate.

Vanderburgh County did record more than 150 new full vaccinations on the Wednesday dashboard. That total is approaching 81,000.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana stands at 31. That number was as low as eleven last month.

Across Indiana, seven new COVID-related deaths were reported along with nearly 300 new infections.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the virus’s Delta variant now makes up more than half of COVID-19 cases in the U.S.
