Tim Black Named WNIN President, CEO

File

WNIN has hired a new President and CEO from within the organization.

WNIN’s Board of Directors has chosen Tim Black, who has served as interim president and CEO since Brad Kimmel stepped down in November.

Kimmel accepted a public broadcasting job in Bloomington.

In a release, WNIN Board Chair Brad Ellsworth said after a lengthy national search, Black “kept rising to the top of the list.”

Ellsworth said Black knows the area well and is “uniquely qualified to lead” in the “ever-changing arena of public TV and radio.

Black says he’s excited to “embrace the new role.” He said he wants to focus efforts and budgets toward more local content.

Black has worked in broadcasting for nearly 30 years, starting at WEVV TV which at the time operated in the current home of WNIN at Two Main Street.

Black joined WNIN in 2015.
